The SPAC Theology Department actively participated in the 27th AIIAS Theological Forum, held from November 14 to 16, 2024, at the Adventist International Institute of Advance Studies (AIIAS) Campus. The forum brought together theologians, researchers, and educators to explore important issues in Seventh-day Adventist doctrine and practice.
SPAC’s team, composed of Pr. Heriberto Estrada, Pr. Alfred Labadisos, Pr. Robenson Zapico, Pr. Luther Bendanillo, and Ma’am Sherry Nadura, presented the study Seventh-day Adventist Identity: Perceptions and Lived Realities under the guidance of Research Director Dr. Ranzolin Bayeta. The research highlighted gaps between Adventist beliefs and practices in areas such as the Law of God, health, and Sabbath observance, emphasizing the need for stronger doctrinal formation during college years. Attendees praised the presentation and encouraged further research on these differences.
In a separate presentation, Ma’am Sherry Nadura shared her study titled A Comparative Study of Ellen White and Augustine’s Perspectives on the Law of God, Specifically in Relation to the Sabbath. Her work compared the theological views of Ellen White and Augustine, offering valuable insights into their perspectives on the Sabbath and its implications for Adventist theology.
SPAC’s participation reflects its commitment to academic excellence and its mission to support the world church through research. The forum also highlighted SPAC’s leadership in theology, having been the sole presenter last year. This year, Mountain View College (MVC) and the Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) also participated, showcasing the growing role of Adventist institutions in advancing theological research.
