In response to the recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake that affected parts of Mindanao, South Philippine Adventist College SPAC, through its Community Extension Services Center, conducted a relief operation yesterday, June 21, 2026, in Malapatan, Sarangani, bringing aid to families affected by the disaster.

A total of 200 bags of 5-kilogram rice, 200 food packs, and 200 containers of 6.6-liter mineral water were distributed to residents. Faculty members and student volunteers joined hands in packing and distributing the relief goods to the beneficiaries.

Recognizing the importance of emotional and mental well-being following traumatic events, the SPAC Guidance and Counseling Office also conducted a psychoeducational session for residents. The activity was facilitated by Ms. Jelah Monta, Guidance and Counseling Coordinator and registered psychologist, who provided guidance on coping with stress and anxiety brought about by the earthquake.

The relief operation was organized by the Community Extension Services Center and was made possible through the support of generous donors and friends from various places who responded to the call for assistance. SPAC extends its heartfelt gratitude to individuals and groups who have shared their resources through monetary contributions and in-kind donations. Their generosity has enabled the College to provide timely assistance to affected families and remains crucial as preparations are underway for another round of relief operations. The continued support of donors and well-wishers ensures that more communities can be reached and that help can be extended to those who need it most.

SPAC continues to accept both monetary and in-kind donations as it prepares to bring aid to more communities affected by the disaster. The College likewise expresses appreciation to its faculty members, student volunteers, and partners whose willingness to serve made the humanitarian effort possible.
