The Missionary Sabbath Celebration, themed "Living the Mission: Up Close & Personal," brought together a passionate community of missionaries at South Philippine Adventist College on March 14-15, 2025, to reflect on the transformative power of their calling and its role in spreading the gospel.
The opening evening was filled with inspiring testimonies. Edmond Ayong, a Light Missionary, shared his journey of faith and service. Junalie Madrid, from the 62nd batch of the 1000 Missionary Movement (1000MM), spoke about her calling, while Dexter John Dumanig, a Sulads missionary, recounted his experiences in the mission field.
Pr. Demetrio Taotao, Director of 1000MM SePUM, delivered a compelling keynote message, emphasizing the Seventh-day Adventist Church's mission: "To call all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ and proclaim the everlasting gospel." He reminded everyone that committing to missionary work is life-changing. The evening concluded with a solemn candle-lighting ceremony, where attendees offered prayers of dedication to mission service.
On Sabbath, the celebration continued with powerful talks and testimonies. Mr. Rene Tucaldo, Treasurer of 1000MM, shared how missionary service transformed his life. Amor Zapico (1000MM) and Jimson Gabito (Sulads) gave moving testimonies, showing how God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
Pr. Suk Hee Han, Director of 1000MM SSD-NASD, delivered a stirring message, urging attendees to "run with patience the race set before us." He highlighted 1000MM's role in protecting Adventist youth, strengthening local churches, and reaching unreached territories. Reflecting on his own journey, he declared, "God sees you, hears you, and sends you as His missionaries."
The event was a powerful reminder of the enduring impact of missionary movements like 1000MM and Sulads. As the timeless declaration goes, "Once a missionary, always a missionary!"—a legacy that will continue until Jesus returns.
