The Southeastern Philippine Union Mission of the Seventh day Adventist Church held the 1st SePUM-Wide Qualitative Research Seminar-Workshop at the Davao Mission headquarters on October 6-8, 2025. With the theme “From Questions to Conclusion: The Journey of Research with God”, the event gathered 42 selected teachers from elementary, high school, and college levels within the SePUM territory.

The seminar workshop was organized and sponsored by the Education Department of SePUM under the leadership of Dr. Perlyn Panes, Education Director. It aimed to help Adventist educators gain practical skills in conducting qualitative research using approaches such as phenomenology, narrative inquiry, case study, and appreciative inquiry.

The resource speakers came from the South Philippine Adventist College research team headed by Dr. Ranzolin G. Bayeta, SPAC Research Director, together with Dr. Karel Banay, Maam Kaizer Banay, and Sir Richard Banay.

The training was intensive. In two days, participants had to complete a research study using one chosen design. On the third day, they presented their completed studies before a panel composed of Dr. Perlyn Panes and the SPAC research team.

Outstanding studies were recognized, with one best research per design category. Two teams from South Philippine Adventist College received awards: Sir Karl Lagundimao and his team for phenomenology, and Sir Jay Banay and his team for narrative inquiry.

Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and complete a study within a short period. The 1st SePUM-Wide Qualitative Research Seminar-Workshop encouraged educators to strengthen their research practice and continue integrating faith and learning in their classrooms.
